From the SFRA Review
Call for Co-Editors of the SFRA Review
The Editorial Collective
The SFRA Review is seeking two scholars to serve as co-editors of the journal. Both will work together with Ian Campbell over the course of two quarterly issues to gain experience with the details of how the issue is edited and assembled, before taking over as senior editors.
The duties of the co-editors include:
- determining foci for special issues/sections and the overall direction of the journal
- proactively seeking content, especially long-form essays
- working with the team of section editors to maintain high standards of contributions and to encourage healthy submission/rejection rates
- acting as a point of contact for scholars, reviewers and the general public
- layout, typesetting, and maintenance of both web and print versions
- writing quarterly editor’s column
- representing the Review at conferences and other academic and professional meetings
The Review is of course uninterested in discriminating against anyone based on demographics, education level, professional titles, etc. That said, this is an excellent opportunity for early-career scholars or even graduate students, both in the practical sense that most institutions view journal editing as research work and also in the more abstract sense of giving the new co-editors the opportunity to interface with more senior scholars and the overall discourse in SF criticism.
Please send your contact details, your most recent CV, and the names of two references to Ian Campbell (icampbell@gsu.edu) with the subject line SFRA Review Co-Editor. Please also include in the body of your email a brief statement detailing your experiences as an editor (if any) and your thoughts on the directions in which you might wish to take the journal. We look forward to reviewing your application.
